Telespazio Belgium brings over 45 years of expertise in Space Operations Service & Engineering, significantly contributing to major European Space Agency programs. We are seeking a highly skilled Telecommunication Systems Engineer to support ESA at ESTEC in the Netherlands. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from an EU Member State.

The Role

You will assist ESA with satellite telecommunication system analysis and simulation, contributing to various projects and R&D activities.

Responsibilities

• Support ESA in satellite telecommunication system analysis and simulation activities.
• Assist in the preparation of invitations to tenders related to ESA R&D.
• Manage industrial R&D activities in system design, analysis, and simulations.
• Conduct hands-on technical analysis on future SATCOM systems.
• Prepare R&D technology roadmaps for satellite telecom network protocols and architectures.
• Support ESA-wide projects in telecommunication systems and technologies.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD (preferable) in Telecommunication or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong background in satellite communication systems, especially in maritime and aeronautical services.
• Experience in satellite system and network simulations.
• Good knowledge of the 3GPP 5G protocol.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in telecommunications, including:
  • System level analysis of satellite telecommunication networks.
  • End-to-end Physical/MAC layer analysis and simulations.
• Familiarity with SATCOM-related standards.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and programming languages such as Julia, Python, and C++.
