Telespazio Belgium has over 45 years of expertise in Space Operations Service & Engineering, contributing significantly to major European Space Agency programs. We are seeking a highly skilled Telecommunication Systems Engineer to support ESA's satellite telecommunication activities at ESTEC in the Netherlands. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from an EU Member State.

De Rol

In this role, you will support ESA in satellite telecommunication and subsystem performance analysis, and assist in the operation and maintenance of RF equipment such as antennas and simulators. You will also be involved in the integration, configuration, and testing of RF subsystems for space applications, as well as maintaining laboratory documentation and equipment.

• Support ESA in satellite telecommunication and subsystem performance analysis.
• Operate and maintain RF equipment, including antennas and simulators.
• Assist with the integration and testing of RF subsystems.
• Organize and maintain laboratory documentation and equipment.
• Handle loan and purchase operations for divisional equipment.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of divisional equipment using dedicated software.
• Conduct technical analysis on future SATCOM systems.
• Contribute to the preparation of R&D technology roadmaps for satellite telecom.
• Support ESA-wide telecommunication projects.

Vereisten

• Master's degree or PhD (preferable) in Telecommunication or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong background in satellite communication technologies.
• Experience in RF measurements and calibration techniques.
• Excellent skills in writing manuals, test reports, and documentation.
• Ability to operate RF equipment and conduct demonstrations.
• Knowledge of 5G protocols.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in telecommunications, including:
  • System-level analysis of satellite telecommunication networks.
  • End-to-end Physical/MAC layer analysis and simulations.
  • Familiarity with SATCOM-related standards.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and programming languages such as Julia, Python, and C++.

You will be working at ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s facility in the Netherlands, as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. While full-time on-site presence is not required, relocation to the Netherlands is necessary for this position.
