About The Team

The Technical Development team develops and delivers innovative, more sustainable, and high-quality products for Tommy Hilfiger. The team supports the end-to-end technical development process, from initial concept through garment realization, helping ensure product excellence and delivery against company and divisional objectives.

Working closely with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and global supplier partners, the team translates the Tommy Hilfiger brand DNA into technically feasible, consistent, and production-ready products.

About The Job

The Technical Developer is a specialist individual contributor within the Technical Development team. The role supports the technical development of garments from initial concept through production, translating agreed design direction into accurate technical specifications and solutions that meet established fit, construction, quality, and production standards, with particular technical expertise in knitwear development, including flat-knit construction.

Working within agreed seasonal objectives, the Technical Developer evaluates garment fit and construction, provides technical recommendations, and follows through on agreed technical actions with internal teams and supplier partners. The role resolves a range of straightforward technical issues using established methods, manages assigned priorities across the product-development critical path, and aligns unfamiliar, material, or higher-risk exceptions with the relevant technical lead.

Key Responsibilities, Including But Not Limited To

• Support the technical development of assigned garments from initial concept through production, translating design sketches, reference garments, and agreed design direction into accurate measurements, construction requirements, and technical specifications.
• Maintain approved blocks, measurement standards, and associated technical records for assigned product areas, ensuring accurate and consistent application; identify and recommend updates for review when fit learnings or seasonal requirements indicate a change.
• Prepare for and participate in fit sessions with Design, Merchandising, and Product Development; assess fit, balance, comfort, proportion, construction, and product execution and provide clear technical recommendations.
• Document fit decisions and comments accurately, communicate agreed amendments to supplier partners, and maintain traceability across samples, technical specifications, and product records.
• Analyze and resolve straightforward fit, construction, and technical-development issues using established methods and standards; evaluate practical options and escalate unfamiliar, material, or higher-risk exceptions to the relevant technical lead.
• Evaluate the impact of proposed technical changes on fit, construction, measurements, material behavior, product quality, and supplier capability, communicating implications before agreed changes are implemented.
• Apply specialist garment-construction knowledge to assigned product, with practical expertise in knitwear development, including yarns, gauges, stitch structures, flat-knit construction, and finishing; assess technical implications and translate agreed requirements into feasible product solutions.
• Partner with Product Development, Supply Chain, suppliers, and Quality Assurance to communicate technical requirements, investigate sample or production deviations, and support timely corrective action across the assigned supply base.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely technical information in the Product Lifecycle Management system and related development records, in line with established technical standards and approval processes.
• Independently manage and regularly reassess assigned sample, fit, and technical-development priorities against the seasonal critical path; anticipate dependencies, communicate timing or capacity risks early, and align revised sequencing or scope with relevant stakeholders.
• Support sample readiness, fit-session preparation, technical analysis, and reporting required for seasonal product development.

The Ideal Candidate

• Relevant degree, diploma, or vocational qualification in garment technology, fashion technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in technical garment development, with practical experience in knitwear technical development; flat-knitwear experience is highly desirable.
• Strong working knowledge of garment construction, fit, measurements, and technical product development, with practical understanding of yarns, knit structures, gauges, stitches, and flat-knit construction.
• Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management systems and technical product-development tools; experience with relevant CAD and 3D-development tools such as Gerber, Browzwear, Gerber 3D, or equivalent is an advantage.
• Applies established methods and sound technical judgment to analyze straightforward fit, construction, and product-development issues, compare practical solutions, and recognize when an issue requires escalation.
• Builds productive internal and external working relationships and communicates technical information, fit feedback, and recommendations clearly in written and spoken English.
• Independently organizes a varied workload, adapts plans as seasonal needs change, and communicates dependencies, constraints, and realistic timelines before quality or delivery is affected.
• Demonstrates strong accuracy and data integrity and considers design intent, product quality, commercial feasibility, timing, and supplier implications when making recommendations.
