The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining documentation for the Isovalent Enterprise Platform and Hypershield, focusing primarily on developer and user documentation. You will play a key role in shaping the user experience for both open-source Cilium and our enterprise offerings, ensuring that our technically advanced Kubernetes networking product is accessible through top-notch documentation. The Technical Writer collaborates closely with various teams, including engineering, solution architects, marketing, product management, release management, and the community. The documentation encompasses initial technology and product concepts, getting started guides, tutorials, reference documentation, operational guides, and best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to all technical documentation efforts for Isovalent’s Cilium distribution and Hypershield, including operational documentation, training, and guides.
• Collaborate with engineering and solution architects to produce high-quality technical content.
• Conduct reviews and surveys with customers to identify areas for improvement in documentation and information architecture.
• Share knowledge on documentation and developer content best practices with maintainers, the product development team, and the community, fostering a documentation culture within the organization.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer for Enterprise products.
• Proficient in networking, security, and Cloud Native technologies.
• Skilled in writing user guides and documentation to assist enterprise users.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A passion for creating high-quality technical content.
• Hands-on experience with documentation frameworks such as Sphinx, Hugo, or ReadTheDocs is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with GitHub and Git revision management.
• Experience leading user research to enhance documentation is a plus.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering peers to transform knowledge from subject matter experts into high-quality documentation.
• Understanding of markdown and restructured text.
• Excellent writing skills in English.
