Independently performs advanced petrochemical inspections of vessels, rail/road cars, or shore tanks, adhering strictly to predefined procedures. The inspections involve measuring petrochemical fluids, which may include dry cargo in specific locations, and taking samples for laboratory analysis. You will also manage conflict situations effectively.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections in line with client instructions, Saybolt Standard procedures, Global Safety Manual, risk assessments, and local safety regulations.
• Attend training and pass examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas inspection procedures, as well as hazardous materials transportation.
• Perform visual cleanliness inspections of vessels, rail/road cars, or shore tanks.
• Verify the accuracy of measurement equipment and ensure it is maintained in proper working condition.
• Measure physical fluid bulk, density, temperature, and metering to determine quantities.
• Sample petrochemical fluids according to international standards, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
• Understand analytical test methods and perform basic tests following standardized procedures.
• Complete inspection reports independently using a computer.
• Provide training and coaching to junior inspectors.

Requirements

• Minimum high school or secondary education or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience as an Inspector.
• IFIA Certified Inspector of Petroleum or equivalent certification.
• Physically fit, capable of lifting items up to 20 kg (or as per local regulations).
• Advanced knowledge of petrochemical products, chemicals, or other liquid cargo.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills in the local language and English.
• Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations, including flow rates, ratios, percentages, and geometrical calculations.
• Advanced computer skills (MS Windows, Word, Excel, and company systems).
• Valid driving license with a satisfactory driving record.

Other Information

The role requires inspecting tanks, which involves working at heights and in confined spaces. The employee must be mobile (walking, climbing, carrying), rely on senses (sight, hearing, smell), and be able to lift items up to 20 kg (or as per local regulations). Irregular hours/shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required, as well as working away from the base office.

Addendum

The inspector will perform all (complex) inspection work on various products, including blend ships and offshore inspections. This includes inspecting, measuring, and sampling different objects, completing inspection forms, and reporting according to company systems. Ensure that calibrations of measuring materials are accurately updated.
