Senior Learning Facilitator in Material Technology at NS

In the role of Senior Learning Facilitator in Material Technology, you will play a key role in developing craftsmanship within NS. You will provide technical training at all vocational levels and guide participants in their professional development, ensuring that knowledge is directly applicable in practice. Regularly, you will combine the roles of teacher, coach, examiner, and advisor.

The Role

A significant part of your job involves training and coaching specialists within a new training program. You will guide participants in small groups, helping them develop in-depth knowledge of maintenance, ETCS, fault analysis, and the repair of modern rolling stock, such as the FLIRT, SLT, SNG, and ICNG. Additionally, you will actively contribute to the further professionalization of the team by coaching fellow learning facilitators and initiating improvements in training and learning pathways.

Responsibilities

Train technicians with diverse backgrounds to become specialists within specialist and core teams.
Coach participants in their growth towards specialization, including independently analyzing and solving complex technical issues.
Assist specialists in documenting fault analyses and creating technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the workshop.
Translate complex technical concepts into understandable and directly applicable learning activities.
Tailor lesson content to the level and development needs of participants, providing depth where necessary.
Identify improvement opportunities in operations, recognize learning and development needs, and actively contribute to the evolution of training and learning pathways.

When you start with us, you will follow a two-year didactic development program. During this period, you will further develop as a learning facilitator and gain practical experience within the training programs provided by the Learning Center.

About the Company

The NS Learning Center is one of the largest corporate academies in the Netherlands and plays a vital role in developing craftsmanship within NS. Within the Technical domain, Learning & Performance, the Technical Factory, and Material Technology work closely together to optimally train and support employees.

You will work from the NS Learning Center in Amersfoort and will regularly be present at our service and maintenance locations throughout the Netherlands. Your base location is Amersfoort, and you are comfortable with traveling for work.

You will join a dedicated and enthusiastic team that contributes daily to the professional competence of our technicians. Together, you ensure that technicians have the right knowledge and certifications to maintain the rolling stock safely and reliably.

Requirements

Minimum MBO 4 working and thinking level, supplemented with demonstrable HBO working and thinking level.
Preferably, you have completed the STARWAY training for Service and Maintenance Technician in Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation or an equivalent technical direction.
Minimum of 2 years of experience within a specialist team, core team, or similar technical environment.
Demonstrable knowledge of rolling stock, such as FLIRT, SLT, SNG, and/or ICNG.
Experience in analyzing technical faults and diagnosing issues.
Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, safety concepts, and procedures.
Ability to explain complex technical subjects clearly, structured, and understandably.
Natural leadership within the team and the ability to inspire and develop others.
Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate a complex organization.
Broadly deployable within technical training for technicians and specialists.
Affinity for training, coaching, and guiding colleagues, and willingness to follow the two-year didactic training program.
Ability to work independently and proficient in using digital tools.

A salary between €3,159 and €5,507 gross per month (scale 59) based on 36 hours, with classification based on work experience.
