We are looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to take ownership of and enhance the native iOS library utilized across our consumer-facing applications. This high-impact role is a 6-month contract based in Amsterdam, requiring a hybrid work model of two days per week in the office.

The Role

As a Senior iOS Engineer, you will set the technical direction for iOS, influence cross-platform architectural decisions, and collaborate closely with internal product teams and the mobile guild. You will work on platform-level mobile infrastructure that serves millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, enhance, and support the shared iOS library used by front-end teams to send events to our backend.
• Lead the technical direction and architecture for the mobile library, defining standards and best practices for a large-scale, consumer-facing codebase.
• Design and implement robust, production-quality Swift code that performs reliably at internet scale and during peak traffic.
• Collaborate with the Android core engineer and backend partners to ensure consistent cross-platform architecture and migrations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other mobile engineers working with the library.
• Participate in incident response and on-call rotation for the mobile app/library.
• Align roadmap and deliverables with internal stakeholders across product teams, engineering managers, and the mobile guild.
• Contribute to the backend migration effort (Perl → Java) as it relates to mobile integrations and architecture.

Requirements

• 10–12+ years of professional experience in native iOS development (Swift). Objective-C or hybrid stacks are not acceptable substitutes.
• Deep expertise in writing scalable, maintainable Swift code for consumer-facing applications.
• Proven experience in defining mobile architecture and guiding technical direction for other engineers.
• Experience working on libraries or platform components utilized by other product teams.
• Strong stakeholder management, cross-team communication, and ownership skills.
• Experience with on-call responsibilities and production incident management.
• Comfortable working in a product environment with high traffic and reliability expectations.

Nice to Have

• Experience contributing to or owning shared mobile libraries/frameworks.
• Familiarity with large-scale mobile telemetry/event pipelines or analytics libraries.
• Previous involvement in backend migration projects or coordinating mobile changes due to backend platform migrations.
• Familiarity with Kotlin/Android architecture to collaborate effectively with Android engineers.
