De rol

As a Senior Field Trial Technical Officer, you will operate a wide range of precision agriculture machinery and have experience cultivating various open-field crops. You will work with both organic and conventional crops across 220 hectares in and around Wageningen, occasionally visiting farms elsewhere in the country. Your practical contributions will help drive new developments in agriculture.

Your daily tasks will include:

• Operating modern agricultural machinery for sowing, fertilizing, and harvesting.
• Assisting with fieldwork on diverse crops.
• Contributing to the design and execution of trials.
• Ensuring proper maintenance and registration of machinery.
• Controlling weeds using machinery, manual methods, or crop protection products.
• Primarily working in and around Wageningen, with occasional travel to other farms.

Team

You will be part of the Open Field team at Unifarm, the plant and crop science research center of Wageningen University & Research, collaborating with 20 permanent staff members.

You are communicative and socially skilled, allowing you to connect easily with colleagues and external stakeholders. You work meticulously to maintain quality and safety, and you can respond effectively to unexpected situations.

Je hebt ook

• A completed MAS (Senior Secondary Agricultural Education) qualification in arable farming and experience in arable farming.
• Extensive experience with GPS-guided arable farming machinery and tractors.
• Experience in establishing and managing arable field trials.
• Knowledge of machine maintenance.
• Proficiency in computer skills (Office, Dacom) is preferred/required.
• A (heavy vehicle) driver’s license and a valid spraying license, or willingness to obtain one.
• A good command of the Dutch language.
• Willingness to work irregular hours when necessary.

In our international environment, English is increasingly used for communication. For this position, a language level of B2 is required. If you do not yet have this level, we will support you with courses at our language center, Wageningen in'to Language.

You will receive a competitive gross salary between €3,173 and €3,785 for a full-time workweek of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 6). A contract for 32 hours can also be discussed. Initially, a one-year contract is offered, which can be extended based on performance and organizational circumstances.
