Eli Lilly is investing €2.6 billion in a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Katwijk, Netherlands. This facility will significantly contribute to the production of oral medicines for cardiometabolic health, neuroscience, oncology, and immunology, utilizing advanced manufacturing technologies such as dock-to-dock automation, paperless manufacturing, and process analytical technology, all while achieving carbon neutrality and zero waste to landfills. This role offers the chance to shape a new site, develop a team, and make a global impact on patients.

In this position, you will lead, develop, and support manufacturing operations, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to create a high-performing, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operationeel Leiderschap

• Create recruitment, training, and start-up strategies for manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with Site and Corporate objectives.
• Establish a vision for operational excellence across process and flow teams according to Eli Lilly's Manufacturing Standards.
• Oversee compliance with production plans, headcount, expenses, capital projects, and plant objectives.
• Promote teamwork and ensure staff have the necessary resources.
• Lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity in manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Engineering, Science, Quality, Safety) to ensure thorough operations and communication.
• Develop and execute plans for a reliable and resilient manufacturing process and supply chain.

Kwaliteit & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Quality Corporate Policies.
• Manage validation protocols, change management, and deviation investigations.
• Investigate product complaints and develop detailed action plans.
• Maintain qualifications for the department, premises, and equipment.
• Ensure accurate evaluation and authorization of production records.

People Management

• Assess personnel and facilitate professional development.
• Coordinate performance plans for direct reports and ensure a consistent approach.
• Assign and ensure completion of individualized training plans.
• Manage human resources planning and objectives.
• Cultivate a collaborative, inclusive culture that encourages growth and contribution.
• Approve attendance records for direct reports.

Environmental Health & Safety

• Integrate EH&S requirements into business planning.
• Establish metrics for inspections, training, and incidents.
• Exemplify a strong safety culture through actions and decisions.
• Conduct regular management audits of operational areas.
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards and waste management.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Science.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in production, engineering, technical services, or supply chain, with at least 10 years in the pharmaceutical or chemical synthesis industry focused on manufacturing operations; 5 years in management roles.
• Language: Ideally bilingual (English/Dutch preferred).
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with computerized systems, GMP documentation, and EH&S regulations; experience across various pharmaceutical manufacturing platforms (e.g., oral solid dosage, chemical synthesis, API manufacturing).

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to work rotating shifts.
• Availability for domestic and international travel.
• Strong leadership and team coordination skills.

Critical Requirements

• Must be willing to relocate to a commutable distance from Katwijk, Netherlands (site-based role).
