We are seeking a Senior Merchant to become part of the Digital Basketball & Training Merchandising team. In this role, you will manage a complex business portfolio, translating seasonal strategies into premium digital product assortments that enhance the consumer experience across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The Role

As a Senior Merchant, you will oversee the complete digital merchandising lifecycle for your category, from seasonal strategy to daily execution. This is a 6-month fixed-term salaried position contracted via Aquent on behalf of our client, with the possibility for extension. The role offers a salary between €55K and €69K per annum (pro rata) for a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.

Due to the nature of this contracting role, only candidates with unrestricted rights to work in The Netherlands will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assortment Creation: Develop balanced, consumer-focused digital product assortments that ensure the right product is available at the right time, place, and price.
• Pre-Season Planning: Collaborate with Planning teams to provide clear assortment direction, ensuring a productive and strategic seasonal buy.
• In-Season Trade: Actively manage your business area using retail data and online dashboards to respond to performance metrics and optimize sales results.
• Product Flow & Distribution: Determine product distribution and launch flow for Direct To Consumer (DTC) channels to ensure a comprehensive digital offering.
• Future Planning: Analyze geographic consumer insights to influence future line planning for digital consumers.
• Cross-Functional Squad Leadership: Act as a key merchandising voice within the Basketball Direct Sport Squad, keeping stakeholders informed about product launches and key deliverables.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of relevant retail merchandising experience (DTC).
• Proven experience in retail buying or planning, with strong knowledge of buying processes.
• Exceptional retail and financial acumen, with the ability to analyze sales data and develop actionable business strategies.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) and familiarity with digital visualization, database, and analytical dashboard tools.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with a collaborative approach.
• A passion for sports, particularly Basketball and Training product lines, is highly preferred.
