Impala Terminals Group (ITG) facilitates global commodity trade by providing reliable access to international markets through its extensive network of storage infrastructure across 20 countries. ITG is a joint venture between Trafigura and IFM Investors, managing both Liquid and Dry Bulk storage businesses.

The Role

As a Senior Dayshift Operator, you will support the Operations Officer and the broader Operations team in executing continuous-shift operations safely and efficiently. You will serve as a subject matter expert for key operational processes, including the Vapour Recovery / Treatment Unit (VRU/RTO) and water management systems, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support within the continuous-shift organization, acting as a senior point of reference for Dayshift Operators.
• Lead and coordinate the Permit to Work (PTW) system, ensuring consistent application of safe work practices.
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU) and Regenerative Thermal Oxidiser (RTO), including monitoring and guidance.
• Ensure compliant and efficient operation of water management systems.
• Represent Operations in small projects, coordinating with internal departments and external contractors during safety studies (Hazop).
• Compile and submit recurring operational reports accurately and on time.
• Direct and mentor Dayshift Operators in their daily tasks.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure adherence to HSEC regulations and terminal procedures.
• Support maintenance and technical teams during planned and unplanned activities.
• Ensure Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Task Risk Assessment (TRA) procedures are correctly applied.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Operations department.

Requirements

• Vapro-B or Vapro-C certification (required).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial or operational environment, preferably in a liquid bulk terminal.
• Demonstrated experience with Permit to Work (PTW), LOTO, and TRA procedures.
• Familiarity with vapour treatment systems (VRU/RTO) and water management processes is a strong advantage.
• In-depth knowledge of terminal operations and safety procedures.
• Strong supervisory and mentoring skills; able to guide and empower operators.
• Proficient in Dutch and English (both written and spoken).
• Computer literate; proficient in software commonly used in the terminal industry.
• Ability to work accurately, follow procedures, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Proactive and hands-on mentality.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions and under noise exposure.
• Capacity to handle stressful situations due to the safety-critical nature of the role.
• Self-motivated with a high level of resilience.
