We are currently looking for a Senior Clinical Pharmacologist (Director, Clinical Pharmacology) to join our expanding client-dedicated team at ICON. This position provides a unique opportunity to become an embedded strategic partner within a leading global pharmaceutical organization, influencing development programs from early research through registration.

As a Senior Clinical Pharmacologist, you will be part of a highly collaborative team, working alongside scientific and clinical leaders to support clinical pharmacology strategies across programs from early development to registration. You will leverage your expertise in clinical pharmacology, biopharmaceutics, and model-informed drug development to facilitate informed decision-making and expedite the development of innovative therapies.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical pharmacology strategies for early and late-phase drug development programs.
• Utilize model-informed drug development principles for dose selection, patient population strategies, biomarkers, and endpoint optimization.
• Collaborate with Pharmacometricians to develop and implement PK/PD modeling and simulation strategies.
• Contribute to translational medicine initiatives, preclinical study designs, and First-in-Human (FIH) studies, including SAD and MAD dose selection.
• Provide clinical pharmacology expertise to cross-functional teams and governance discussions at key development decision points.
• Support regulatory submissions and responses to health authority inquiries.
• Foster collaboration across preclinical, clinical, regulatory, and quantitative sciences teams to advance development programs.
• Stay updated on emerging innovations in clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, biopharmaceutics, and quantitative drug development.

Requirements

• PhD in Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in clinical pharmacology, pharmaceutical development, or a related industry.
• Strong hands-on expertise in clinical pharmacology strategy, study design, PK/PD modeling, and quantitative data interpretation.
• In-depth understanding of model-informed drug development and its application throughout the drug development lifecycle.
• Experience in supporting translational medicine strategies and early clinical development programs, including FIH studies.
• Strong knowledge of innovative approaches in clinical pharmacokinetics, biopharmaceutics, and PK/PD modeling.
• Comprehensive understanding of global drug development and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align across scientific and business functions.
• Proven ability to lead complex scientific discussions and contribute to strategic development decisions.
