As a Senior Design Lead in Civil Engineering | Urban Development, you will work on integrated area development and infrastructure projects in the built environment. Together with multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute to sustainable, future-proof, and climate-adaptive solutions for public and private clients. You will combine civil engineering expertise with a holistic view of urban development, contract formation, and digitalization, making a significant contribution to projects from initiation to realization.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Responsible for drafting, coordinating, and reviewing civil engineering designs within integrated urban development projects.
• Leading, guiding, and providing substantive support to (junior) designers and draftsmen within project teams.
• Monitoring the quality, feasibility, and implementability of designs throughout all project phases.
• Ensuring coordination between civil engineering and other disciplines such as hydrogeology, drainage, soil, geotechnics, and environmental management.
• Drafting, reviewing, and substantively assessing RAW specifications, UAV-GC contracts, and cost estimates.
• Acting as a technical point of contact for project leaders, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Advising clients on design choices, contract forms, and technical issues within area development and infrastructure projects.
• Identifying risks, opportunities, and optimizations within projects and translating them into concrete solutions.
• Contributing to innovative and digital developments within the design process and Arcadis' broader digital ambitions.
• Supporting bids, tenders, and acquisition processes by providing technical input and expertise.
• Integrating sustainability, climate adaptation, and Circular Design into designs and project execution.
• Actively contributing to knowledge development within the advisory group and further professionalizing methods and design standards.

Adviesgroep Urban Design

You will join the Urban Design advisory group, a team of approximately 50 colleagues working on the design and development of tomorrow's living environment. Within multidisciplinary project teams, you will collaborate with designers, advisors, and specialists on a variety of projects for municipalities, provinces, developers, educational and healthcare institutions, and industrial clients. Projects range from area developments, housing locations, and business parks to road reconstructions and complex urban issues. Themes such as sustainability, climate adaptation, energy transition, and digitalization are integral parts of the design and advisory process.

The advisory group combines an informal, collegial working atmosphere with challenging projects and ample room for personal development. You can work from our offices in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, or 's-Hertogenbosch, combined with remote working.

Kwalificaties & Ervaring

We are looking for a communicatively strong civil engineer who works innovatively, decisively, and in a structured manner. You have an affinity for contract formation, feel at home in multidisciplinary project teams, and are a solution-oriented professional. Additionally, you see the added value of data and digitalization and know how to apply this within projects.

• HBO work and thinking level and a completed degree in Civil Engineering;
• At least 10 years of experience as a civil engineering designer within the GWW sector;
• Experience as a specification writer and/or contract writer is a plus;
• Demonstrable experience with the RAW system;
• Experience with UAV-GC contracts and drafting estimates is a plus;
• You are future-oriented, curious, and eager to develop yourself professionally and personally;
• Excellent command of the Dutch language and good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
