ResidentieProfs is looking for a Senior Case Handler Advocacy (2 FTE) for 32-36 hours for the Ministry of Finance.
The Role
As a senior case handler, you will address incoming cases of a complex or multidisciplinary nature, focusing on issues related to subsidy and tax law. Your goal is to achieve a just solution by exploring all lawful options and seeking the most equitable outcome, considering the circumstances of the case submitter. You will weigh interests and look for possibilities.
Once you find a just solution, you will attempt to convince colleagues from the Tax Authority or the Benefits Service of your position. If that fails, you will draft a position statement outlining your viewpoint, which may also be escalated. You will look beyond the earlier decision and the individual case, questioning whether the system aligns with the justified interests of subsidy recipients and/or taxpayers. In cases of multiple issues, you will also maintain contacts outside the services, such as with civil society, other departments, or other execution organizations.
As a senior case handler, you are one of the most experienced practitioners within the team. With your experience and independent perspective, you serve as a resource for colleagues and actively share your knowledge. You handle sensitive and challenging cases where law, execution, and human considerations intersect. You quickly identify where a case is stalled and which path leads to a just solution.
Additionally, you will contribute to the development of signals by identifying structural issues and recurring themes that arise from individual cases, translating them into overarching signals. Your colleague researchers will then work with these signals, which will be shared with the Tax Authority, Benefits Service, and political entities, contributing to sustainable solutions for citizens.
