If you do not hold a PhD in Tax Law and do not expect to obtain one by the end of the year, unfortunately, you do not qualify for this vacancy. The IBFD Academic department is responsible for fundamental research in international, European, comparative, and domestic taxation. Over the past few years, it has developed and contributed to significant research projects, both internally and in collaboration with external partners. Additionally, IBFD Academic organizes conferences and workshops worldwide on relevant tax topics. We currently have an opening for the challenging position of Senior Associate.

The Role

As a Senior Associate, you will initiate, maintain, develop, and take complete responsibility for production processes within IBFD Academic. The position requires a balance of research knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, and a keen interest in online publishing developments, along with strong relationship management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage academic research activities in domestic, international, comparative, and European taxation, including conference organization, speaker management, and author correspondence.
• Edit scientific documents (reports, memos, drafts, input statements, etc.) to postdoctoral quality standards; engage in lecturing as needed.
• Conduct base research for other researchers or projects in relevant taxation topics.
• Promote IBFD products and services.
• Engage in teaching and related activities, including syllabus creation, updating reading materials, preparing slides, creating exams, marking exams, and communication.
• Coordinate or support editorial production processes.
• Monitor relevant developments in the international tax framework for inclusion in IBFD publications.
• Ensure optimal workflow of editorial activities and the publication process.

Requirements

• PhD degree in (tax) law with knowledge and experience in international tax law; applications from those within 6 months of defending their thesis are accepted.
• Fluency in English (academic level); knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Team player with a focus on collective achievements.
• Willingness to ensure product quality through all necessary tasks.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong diplomacy and persuasion skills.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to anticipate project needs and propose efficient solutions.

Please note that the work is to be performed at the IBFD Headquarters in Amsterdam; fully remote working is not available for this position.

Salary & Benefits

We offer a full-time position (37 hours per week) with a salary ranging from EUR 4,600 to 5,500 gross per month, depending on seniority and relevant work experience. This is complemented by an attractive fringe benefits package, including:
