The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Satellite Telecommunications System Engineer to support ESA's satellite telecommunication system analysis and simulation activities. This role involves assisting in the preparation of tenders, managing industrial R&D activities, conducting hands-on technical analysis, and preparing technology roadmaps in satellite telecom protocols and systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist ESA in satellite telecommunication system analysis and simulation.
• Help prepare invitations to tenders related to ESA R&D.
• Support management of industrial R&D activities in system design, analysis, and simulations.
• Conduct internal technical analysis on future SATCOM systems.
• Contribute to ESA-wide projects in telecommunication systems and technologies.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD (preferred) in Telecommunication or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong background in satellite communication systems, especially maritime and aeronautical services.
• Experience in satellite system and network simulations.
• Proficient knowledge of the 3GPP 5G protocol.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in telecommunications, including:
  • System level analysis of satellite telecommunication networks.
  • End-to-end Physical/MAC layer analysis and simulations.
• Familiarity with SATCOM-related standards.
• Knowledge of MATLAB and programming languages such as Julia, Python, and C++.
