Vacancy Summary
Join Wageningen Marine Research as a Saltmarsh Ecology Researcher, where you will investigate vegetation dynamics, sediment accretion, and carbon sequestration in saltmarsh ecosystems. Contribute to nature-based solutions for coastal areas while working in a collaborative environment.
In the role of Saltmarsh Ecology Researcher, you will play a vital part in the saltmarsh research programme at Wageningen Marine Research (WMR). Collaborating closely with the saltmarsh team, your responsibilities will include conducting field measurements and analyses to study long-term vegetation dynamics, sediment accretion, the effects of land subsidence from gas extraction, and carbon sequestration in saltmarsh ecosystems. You will also translate your findings into reports and provide recommendations for saltmarsh restoration and management strategies, contributing to the development of nature-based solutions for coastal regions while ensuring ecological responsibility.
Your primary focus will be on the Dutch Wadden Sea, with opportunities to engage in projects across the Netherlands and internationally. Wageningen Marine Research is a leading organization in the Netherlands for marine ecological data collection, encompassing various aspects such as benthic fauna, marine mammals, fish, birds, and coral. You will contribute to the ongoing development of the saltmarsh monitoring dataset, which boasts over 60 years of valuable ecological data.
You are an enterprising researcher with expertise in saltmarsh ecology and saline vegetation communities, coupled with a keen interest in the Wadden Sea and coastal ecosystems. You excel under pressure, effectively managing your workload to meet deadlines. Your motivation, proactivity, collaboration skills, client focus, and strong communication abilities make you a valuable team member.
