About Your Role

As our QA Automation Engineer, you will enhance the quality culture across our web development teams. Reporting to the Lead Developer, you will work at the intersection of technical automation, release management, and critical analysis within our Agile Scrum teams.

This role is not traditional downstream testing; you will shift quality left by critically evaluating requirements, identifying edge cases, and embedding acceptance criteria into Jira tickets before any code is written. Currently, much of our QA work is manual, and you will lead our transition into a modern, automated QA environment while managing structured manual test plans for ongoing deployments and major launches.

You will establish automated pre-deployment gates, create bug-detection scripts, and define severity rules, empowering developers to take ownership of their unit and integration tests, making the final go/no-go call on deployments.

Your Key Responsibilities

Automation Architecture & Ownership: Plan, build, and maintain end-to-end test automation suites using Playwright with Python.
CI/CD Quality Gates: Integrate automated testing into GitHub Actions to create pre-deployment quality gates and run weekly bug-detection scripts.
Refinement & Critical Analysis: Collaborate with Product Owners and UX Designers during Jira refinement sessions to define acceptance criteria and edge-case scenarios.
Release & Bug Governance: Establish bug severity rules, manage staging environment improvements, and oversee go/no-go release decisions.
Manual Release Planning: Design and execute structured manual test plans, ensuring compatibility and performance across devices and browsers.
Enforce Quality Standards & Developer Accountability: Set quality guardrails and hold developers accountable for code quality, ensuring adherence to quality rules before production.
Process Advice: Provide input on refining the Definition of Done and improving staging environment infrastructure alongside the Lead Developer and Product Owners.
