At GGZ Oost Brabant, you will work with a target group that resonates with both your heart and profession, providing therapeutic interventions tailored to the issues and developmental phases of young individuals. You will have ample opportunity to engage in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), systemic therapy, and personal development within specialized mental health care.

Eating disorders are often complex, especially in adolescents, as puberty brings significant changes. Autonomy increases, identity forms, and young people gradually separate from their parents. When an eating disorder develops during this phase, it affects not only the individual but the entire family, leading to concern, control issues, and conflict. Family relationships become strained, and the natural path towards independence is hindered.

At our Expertise Center for Eating Disorders in Children & Youth, we look beyond the eating disorder itself. We work with both young individuals and their parents, assisting parents in reclaiming their parental role during this tumultuous period, ensuring they can provide a stable and reliable presence for their child. We also support young people in gradually regaining control over their eating disorder and personal development. This makes the work intensive yet profoundly meaningful.

As a therapist, you will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of developmental psychology, systemic therapy, attachment, and specialized eating disorder treatment.

You will serve as the lead therapist within our Child & Youth care pathway and various treatment programs, including the Maudsley Family Based Treatment (for ages under 14) and our two-day day treatment or CBT-E group (for ages 14+). You will conduct intake and assessment interviews, taking a broad and developmental approach: gaining insight not only into the eating disorder itself but also into underlying factors, the adolescent's developmental stage, strengths, and the support needs of the family system. From this comprehensive perspective, you will provide (group) therapy and conduct system and evaluation discussions with young individuals and their parents.

You will collaborate closely with partners such as pediatricians, youth consultants, schools, and external therapists, connecting all stakeholders around a clear treatment vision and approach, ensuring both parents and the young person feel supported.
