Extreme heat, drought, and flooding demand immediate action. As the Program Manager for Climate Safety, you will work towards a region that is ready for tomorrow's climate challenges. You will develop strategies, initiate movements, and ensure that plans become reality. You will navigate a political landscape and provide strategic and tactical advice while representing the interests of the Safety Region South Holland South, ensuring environmental safety is integrated into (inter)regional developments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the regional program strategy for climate safety.
• Initiate and guide projects related to climate adaptation and mitigation.
• Strengthen collaboration with municipalities, water boards, provinces, safety and crisis partners, knowledge institutions, and the national government.
• Advise management and board on complex strategic issues and develop policies on these themes.
• Connect different domains and coordinate multidisciplinary issues and processes within and outside the organization.
• Monitor results and highlight societal impact.

Requirements

• WO working and thinking level.
• Extensive experience in program management, project management, and strategic advising.
• Affinity with risk management, the Environmental Law, and themes such as climate safety, energy transition, and transport safety.
• Political and administrative sensitivity with excellent communication skills.
• Strong skills in connecting interests and realizing collaboration.
• Organizational talent, entrepreneurship, and a results-oriented mindset.

About the Organization

The Safety Region South Holland South (VRZHZ) is one of the 25 safety regions in the Netherlands. On behalf of the 10 municipalities in our region, we carry out various tasks for risk management, crisis management, disaster response, fire services, and medical assistance. We work daily with our partners (including Police, Ambulance Service, Rijkswaterstaat, Defense, and Water Boards) to create a safe and healthy environment for the residents, businesses, and visitors of our region. The Team

You will become part of the Risk Management department within the Risk and Crisis Management Directorate. Here, you will work alongside passionate advisors, policy officers, and a broad network of partners within and outside the safety region. As a program manager, you will navigate through the organization, connecting various fields, bringing people and ideas together, and ensuring that joint ambitions are transformed into concrete results.

We Offer Among Other Things:

• A gross monthly salary of at least €5,478 and a maximum of €7,473 (scale 12 of the CAR UWO), based on a 36-hour workweek. This vacancy is for 36 hours per week. Your classification depends on your knowledge, education, and experience.
