Healthy joints are vital for mobility, independence, and quality of life. Osteoarthritis (OA) is becoming a significant chronic health issue in the Netherlands and globally. The Convergence Health & Technology ‘Healthy Joints’ Flagship unites a consortium from TU Delft, Erasmus MC, and Erasmus University Rotterdam to deepen our understanding of OA and its progression. Our large team of clinicians, engineers, data scientists, imaging specialists, and others collaborates to enhance prevention, early diagnosis, and personalized treatment for individuals with OA. We investigate joint health and disease at multiple levels: cellular, tissue, joint, whole person, and societal.

The Biomechanical Engineering department at TU Delft is seeking a skilled and motivated part-time postdoctoral researcher for a fixed-term position in the final year of the Healthy Joints project. You will join the work package focused on “Multiscale modeling pathomechanics of joint and tissue load in vivo.” In this role, you will support the team in building and refining existing multiscale musculoskeletal models and applying these models to assess cartilage stress in individuals with OA. Your responsibilities will include developing or refining algorithms, processing and analyzing biomechanics and imaging data, supporting translation and dissemination activities, and supervising master's and PhD students. A key focus will be ensuring the sustainability of this research line beyond the Healthy Joints project by collaborating with the team to write proposals and secure funding.

Vereisten

We are looking for an ambitious, independent, and collaborative postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in multiscale musculoskeletal modeling, motivated to establish an independent research line that builds on the work of Healthy Joints.
