In an era where technologies increasingly influence our moral landscape, this role addresses the need for a moral epistemology within Design for Values (DfV). The Techno-Moral Experience and the Foundations of Design for Values (TechnoMoralXP) project aims to bridge the gap in understanding which values should guide technology design. As the WP1 postdoc, you will lead the philosophical underpinnings of this project alongside Dr. James Hutton and Prof. Ibo van de Poel.

The Role

You will:

  • Develop a new conceptual framework for techno-moral experiences, distinguishing them from similar concepts.
  • Analyze the epistemic roles of these experiences in justifying design decisions and explore their limitations.
  • Collaborate with the second postdoc in WP2, who will create a practical design toolkit based on your findings.

You will have the opportunity to publish in leading ethics and technology journals, contribute to a new research frontier at the intersection of moral epistemology, technology ethics, and design, and work within a supportive, international team recognized for its expertise in technology ethics.
