The Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) will contribute to the research effort at UNSW and develop their expertise through defined projects relevant to their field. This role is part of the project "Improving mental health outcomes through parent and teacher engagement in school-based early intervention" in partnership with Sydney Catholic Schools. The project aims to evaluate the acceptability and effectiveness of a school-adapted parent training intervention tailored to the needs of young children with disruptive behavior problems, delivered in a Catholic school setting in South West Sydney. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be based at UNSW but will be required to travel regularly to South West Sydney.

About The Role

• LEVEL A - $118k - $126k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
• Fixed Term – 2.5 years (to July 2029)
• Part time (17.5 hours)

Specific Responsibilities For This Role Include

• Contribute independently or as a team member in collaborative research to enhance the quality of research outcomes in the discipline area.
• Conduct research and enable research teams to create scholarly output recognized by peers, acting as a key coordinator for the trial, ensuring adherence to trial protocols and meeting project milestones.
• Undertake specific research projects under the guidance of a research leader and contribute to the development of research activities.
• Support the dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels, including report preparation and submission, manuscripts, and presentations.
• Conduct discipline-appropriate research activities, such as surveys, literature reviews, and data gathering using suitable research methods.
• Participate in and present at conferences and workshops relevant to the project as required.
• Assist with the supervision of research students as needed.
• Develop and refine relevant study materials according to guidelines and study objectives.
• Maintain efficient systems for scheduling, communication, and documentation of meetings and study procedures, training project staff in their use.
• Monitor adverse events and ensure proper documentation and reporting to Sponsors and Ethics Committees.
• Travel to trial sites for training, monitoring, and coordination duties.
• Develop effective working relationships with educational stakeholders and act as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare and submit grant, ethics, and governance applications.
• Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
• Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university.

About The Successful Applicant

Selection Criteria

• A PhD in Psychology with AHPRA endorsement as a clinical, educational, or developmental psychologist.
• Demonstrated capacity for high-quality research, evidenced by a strong track record relative to opportunity.
• Experience in managing longitudinal research studies, clinical outcomes, and/or randomized controlled trials in clinical psychology.
• Research coordination experience, including protocol development, data management systems, governance, monitoring, and reporting.
• Excellent organizational skills, able to undertake diverse tasks independently and accurately while delivering high-quality work on time.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
• Experience with research data management and statistical analysis using software (SPSS).
• Knowledge of HREC and regulatory applications, including GCP and reporting for clinical trials.
• Skills in project management and statistical analysis using software packages (e.g., SPSS, R, MPlus).
• Bilingual capability in Arabic and English is highly desirable for engagement with Arabic-speaking children and families.
• Ability to implement UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
• Understanding and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values, along with relevant policies and guidelines.
• Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant training.
