As a Business Controller, this means a setting where you have real data to analyze. How do production costs evolve? Where do deviations arise? Which investments genuinely contribute to a more efficient operation? And how do you translate financial and operational data into actionable insights for Operations and Supply Chain?

You will be part of a finance team of twelve colleagues, spread across the locations of Etten-Leur, Tiel, and Heerhugowaard. You report to the Manager Control and work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and other departments within the organization.

Functieomschrijving

As a Plant Business Controller, you will be the financial sparring partner for Operations and Supply Chain. You are not on the sidelines but right in the middle of the operation. By analyzing production costs, performance, and processes, you help the organization make better choices and continuously improve.

You will regularly visit the production floor, interact with various departments, and translate financial and operational data into concrete advice. You look beyond the numbers: you want to understand why results deviate, where opportunities lie, and how processes can be optimized.

The role consists of approximately 70% Business and Production Control, including cost analyses, forecasting, investment calculations, inventory analyses, and supporting operations with management information. The remaining 30% involves Financial Control, ensuring you maintain the financial foundation behind your analyses and work closely with your colleagues in Finance.

Your responsibilities include:

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Acting as a financial co-pilot for Operations and Supply Chain.
• Advising the organization based on financial and operational analyses.
• Analyzing production processes and identifying financial and operational improvement opportunities.
• Supporting departments with OEE measurements, performance issues, and procurement.
• Calculating and analyzing manufacturing and unit costs.
• Evaluating and assessing investment proposals for machines and installations.
• Preparing forecasts and assisting with planning and budgeting processes.
• Monitoring and further developing standard costing.
• Improving and managing processes related to non-financial reporting.
• Increasing financial awareness within the organization through knowledge sharing and support.
• Translating data and figures into practical insights and concrete improvement actions.

Production Control

• Analyzing production costs, including material, production, and overhead costs.
• Conducting variance analyses on production, inventory, and cost prices.
• Analyzing actuals against budget and forecast.
• Calculating, monitoring, and optimizing cost prices.
• Analyzing and valuing inventories.
• Investigating the key drivers behind results and deviations.
• Collaborating with Operations and Financial Control on fixed assets, investments, and inventory management.
• Preparing planning and reports on production performance.

Financial Control (approximately 30%)

• Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual closings according to Local and Swiss GAAP.
• Preparing financial reports for both the Dutch organization and the Swiss parent company.
• Analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts.
• Evaluating and processing complex financial transactions, including provisions, leases, and intercompany transactions.
• Analyzing key developments within the income statement and balance sheet.
• Managing fixed assets.
• Supporting cost center accounting and accrual management.
• Preparing balance and cash planning and reports on DSO, DIO, and DPO.
• Acting as key user of ERP systems and contributing to further process optimization.

For this position, we are explicitly not looking for a controller who prefers to spend the entire day behind their desk preparing financial reports. You are analytically strong but gain energy from the story behind the numbers and the contact with the organization.

You are curious about what happens on the production floor, ask questions, and dare to challenge colleagues within Operations and Supply Chain. At the same time, you possess a solid financial foundation, enabling you to conduct analyses independently and quickly identify connections.

• A completed HBO degree in Business Economics, Finance & Control, Accountancy, or similar.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Control.
• Experience as a Business Controller, Plant Controller, Operations Controller, or Production Controller is a strong plus.
• Experience in a production environment is a strong plus.
• Excellent knowledge of Excel and experience with ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• A proactive attitude and the ability to independently engage with the organization.
