Vacaturesamenvatting
Join an interdisciplinary team as a PhD candidate focusing on the impact of climate change on social cohesion in rural Asian communities. This project aims to explore how climate-induced pressures affect cooperation and community dynamics, contributing to sustainable adaptation policies.
Are you a curious, research-driven historian eager to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team? This PhD position offers the opportunity to write a thesis with significant impact on understanding climate change and social cohesion.
Climate change presents a critical challenge to social cohesion, with extreme weather events and resource disruptions straining community relations and trust in institutions. This project investigates how rural Asian communities have historically coped with climate pressures, examining the dynamics of cooperation and conflict that arise in response to these challenges.
The research will address key questions regarding the effects of climate change on social cohesion at both intra- and inter-group levels. Potential research avenues may vary based on the candidate's interests and available data, including cross-country studies and diverse cooperation dimensions. The project will engage with both quantitative and qualitative sources, potentially involving fieldwork to gather insights into the historical and social contexts of rural Asia.
