JBT Marel is looking for a Patent Paralegal to join our team in Boxmeer, the Netherlands. The Patent Paralegal collaborates closely with Attorneys, Patent Information Specialists, and division management to ensure effective management of the JBT Marel IP portfolio. Strong communication skills with attorneys and management are essential. A solid understanding of the global legal patent process is required, along with proficiency in various software systems to manage the IP portfolio and provide updates on case statuses. Organizational skills are critical for tracking official deadlines, managing legal documentation, and handling department workloads.

De Rol

The Patent Paralegal will work within the in-house IP team, which includes patent/trademark attorneys, patent search specialists, and other patent paralegals, as well as division management. Externally, the Patent Paralegal will collaborate with national and international patent/trademark attorneys, their paralegals, national patent offices, the European Patent Office (EPO), and the World International Patent Organization (WIPO). The main responsibility is the administration of JBT Marel's worldwide IP matters and assisting in defining the roadmap for the IP department.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Management of patent and trademark software systems
• Processing and docketing incoming correspondence from IP agents and IP Offices
• Monitoring critical deadlines
• Organizing annuity payments for JBT Marel's patent portfolio
• Working according to industry best practices for patent applications
• Entering and verifying acquired Patent Portfolio data in the software system
• Filing patent applications (NL, EP, PCT applications, PCT national phase applications, EP Validations)
• Fulfilling worldwide legal requirements for patents and trademarks (powers of attorney, deeds of assignment, legal certificates)
• Organizing and managing internal patent meetings (PWG, IPSC)

Vereisten

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion with confidential information
• Strong organizational and computer skills
• Excellent language skills in English; additional languages are a plus
• Paralegal certificate is an advantage
• Experience in a multi-cultural, multi-discipline organization is beneficial
