The Outside Plant (OSP) Technician is tasked with the effective operation and preventative maintenance of Copper, Hybrid Fibre Coax (HFC), and Fiber networks, ensuring all related equipment functions reliably to provide quality services to subscribers. This role involves proactive monitoring, reporting, and thorough analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues.

The Role

You will analyze and troubleshoot the access network (Copper, HFC, Fiber), applying technical standards associated with its operation and services. Responsibilities include:

• Performing tests and analyses of the Access network and its systems using appropriate equipment, ensuring compliance with international standards.
• Meeting or exceeding company targets for service issue resolution and outages, including both planned and unplanned incidents.
• Testing and verifying the operation of optical nodes on the active copper, HFC, and fiber plant to ensure operational measurements are met.
• Conducting measurements and testing of optical light levels, QAM signals, RF signals, and other relevant readings.
• Performing maintenance on access network components, nodes, and active power supplies assigned to you.
• Collecting and analyzing measurements from various test equipment to monitor network performance and resolve service issues.
• Carrying out general construction duties, including splicing, activation, and emergency restoration of communications facilities.
• Responding to incidents affecting service quality and collaborating with relevant departments for optimal service restoration.
• Maintaining the company vehicle in good condition and submitting all relevant vehicle reports.
• Preparing and submitting weekly reports on activities completed, in progress, and pending.
• Undertaking any other tasks related to the maintenance and construction of OSP components.

Requirements

• Diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics (EEET or equivalent) or a combination of experience and technical certifications.
• Professional certification (e.g., NCTI) or training in broadband cable systems and/or FTTH systems is highly desirable.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in technical roles related to Copper, Fiber, and CATV telecommunications services.
