In this role, you will manage and develop experimental ICT and communication networks used for defence research and interoperability experiments. Your work will focus on ensuring the availability and security of these networks while collaborating with experts to implement new technologies.

De Rol

You will be responsible for managing and enhancing specialized experimental and communication networks that support researchers and technical experts during experiments and exercises, both nationally and internationally. Your role will involve:

• Managing, configuring, and developing network environments.
• Working with technologies such as IPv4/IPv6, routing, Cisco networking solutions, and cybersecurity.
• Translating technical requirements from researchers and project teams into functional network environments.
• Ensuring network environments are secure and available during experiments and exercises.
• Analyzing and resolving technical issues while implementing improvements.
• Exploring and applying new networking and security technologies.
• Collaborating with Dutch and international experts in the defence and security fields.
• Managing accreditation processes for experiments and locations.
• Serving as the primary contact for users of your network environments.

Vereisten

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network & Security Engineering, Information Science, or a related field.
• Several years of experience in network administration or engineering.
• Strong knowledge of IPv4/IPv6, routing, and networking protocols.
• Excellent command of English for effective collaboration with international colleagues.
• Valid Category B driving license.
• Hands-on mindset with a passion for solving technical challenges.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Cisco networking technologies.
• Knowledge of network security or encryption equipment.
• Familiarity with Linux and/or Enterprise Windows environments.
• Scripting or programming skills in Python, C++, or Java.
• Experience in defence, research, or secure environments.

You don't need to be an expert in all areas; a solid networking foundation and a willingness to develop your expertise in complex network environments are essential.
