The Role

As a Nautical Consultant, you will join our team primarily based in our Delft and Amersfoort offices. You will serve as an advisor on a wide range of maritime and port-related projects for diverse clients globally, focusing on navigation, ship manoeuvrability, navigational safety, marine services, and port planning from a nautical perspective. Your responsibilities will include conducting navigational studies, performing fast-time simulations, and guiding real-time simulations in collaboration with our trusted partners. You will provide expert advice to project teams and external clients, sometimes acting as the project manager. Additionally, you will manage your own standalone nautical projects, ensuring financial results, progress, client satisfaction, and effective communication.

What You Bring

You are enthusiastic about sailing, ship manoeuvring, ship safety, and port planning. You possess strong communication and persuasion skills, both verbally and in writing (in English and preferably also in Dutch), and enjoy presenting your ideas to clients and colleagues. You have an interest in different cultures and are eager to learn from diverse experiences.

You hold a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Maritime Technology and have over 5 years of proven experience as a Nautical Advisor/Consultant in the port sector. You understand the various activities of marine services in a port and possess knowledge of different ship types and their cargo, which affects ship handling and maneuvering. You can assess marine risks in complex situations and design Aids to Navigation layouts and specifications, while also understanding VTS principles.

You aspire to build a career in nautical consultancy and are keen to enhance your skills and network in this field. You have a commercial mindset and enjoy exploring opportunities to expand our business. Your flexible work ethos and proactive attitude towards work coordination are key assets.
