MSF is an international, independent medical humanitarian organization dedicated to providing emergency medical assistance during armed conflicts, natural disasters, and disease outbreaks. As a Midwife with MSF, you will play a pivotal leadership role, often supervising local healthcare teams to enhance service delivery in difficult contexts. Your skills in both routine and complex deliveries will be vital in establishing outpatient sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services and mentoring birth attendants in high-volume maternity wards.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Supervising, supporting, coaching, and evaluating maternity staff, including midwives and assistants.
• Planning and organizing team activities, schedules, and task allocations while ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
• Promoting effective teamwork and collaboration between the maternity department and other services.
• Overseeing clinical maternity activities such as antenatal care, deliveries, postnatal follow-up, family planning consultations, and newborn vaccinations.
• Ensuring hygiene standards, infection prevention measures, and biohazard protocols are implemented.
• Monitoring department pharmacy activities, including stock management and consumption tracking.
• Ensuring accurate completion of administrative records, patient documentation, and monthly activity reporting.
• Facilitating appropriate care for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in collaboration with medical doctors.

The projects assigned to our midwives vary widely, from opening maternity hospitals in rural areas to providing care in urban hospitals. Adaptability to diverse cultural contexts and conflict zones is essential.

Vereisten

• Midwife diploma.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant professional experience post-qualification, including at least six months of clinical midwifery within the last 2 years.
• Experience in managing teams and providing training and supervision.
• Hands-on experience in managing obstetric emergencies and complicated deliveries.
• Willingness to be on call for difficult births.
• Ability to work independently in managing healthcare for women and infants.
• Experience in low/middle-income countries and willingness to work in unstable areas.
• Adaptable and able to work in a multi-cultural team.
• Fluency in English (B2) and highly desirable French (or willingness to learn).
• Availability of 9 months or more.

Wat We Bieden

• Strong assets include a global health or tropical nursing diploma, pediatric or ER specializations, and experience in family planning and community midwifery.
