Our partner is looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails) based in the Netherlands. As a Mid-Level Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of a mission-critical content platform powering an innovative e-commerce and advertising technology ecosystem. You will take ownership of core backend systems, delivering roadmap features from conception through production while ensuring reliability, scalability, and code quality. Working within an engineering-driven, international team, you will help maintain essential services for content processing, merchant administration, and workflow automation. You will also embrace an AI-first development approach, using coding agents to accelerate delivery, improve software quality, and make existing systems easier for AI tools to maintain. Alongside feature development, you will support production operations, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvements in engineering practices. Verantwoordelijkheden

Maintain, enhance, and develop FAdmin, a core flyer processing system, alongside the broader Content Platform ecosystem, including workflow execution, vendor management, merchant administration, FTP synchronization, and store administration tools.
Deliver roadmap features end to end, from technical planning and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
Apply an AI-first development approach using Claude Code or similar AI coding agents to accelerate implementation, improve productivity, and support high-quality software delivery.
Use agentic coding workflows to plan tasks, generate and review code, automate development activities, and validate AI-generated solutions against established engineering standards.
Refactor and improve existing codebases and architecture to make systems more maintainable, reliable, and accessible to AI coding agents.
Participate in the Content Layer Service Desk and internal request boards, investigating issues, resolving service requests, and supporting operational continuity.
Write and maintain automated tests to ensure application reliability, prevent regressions, and validate new functionality.
Participate in peer code reviews, share technical knowledge, and promote clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines to support reliable deployments, shorter feedback cycles, and continuous delivery.
Collaborate with engineers and relevant stakeholders to understand requirements, troubleshoot technical challenges, and deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
Contribute to continuous improvements in development workflows, production support, and AI-assisted engineering practices.

Vereisten

Between two and five years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software development.
Proven hands-on experience building, maintaining, and deploying production applications using Ruby on Rails.
Two to five years of solid experience working with relational databases, SQL, and query design.
Daily practical experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or comparable tools, including task planning, code generation, reviewing AI-generated output, and validating implementation quality.
Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, code maintainability, debugging, and production application development.
Experience writing automated tests, participating in code reviews, and working with CI/CD pipelines.
A proven track record of delivering reliable, high-quality features to production and taking responsibility for their ongoing performance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and develop effective technical solutions.
Excellent written and spoken English skills, enabling clear communication and effective collaboration within an international, distributed team.
