We are looking for a skilled Microsoft Database Administrator to oversee database administration in both virtualized and containerized environments. You will manage databases in virtual environments such as VMWare and administer operating systems like Linux RedHat and CentOS. In containerized environments, your expertise with Kubernetes will be essential.

Your responsibilities will include enforcing data security and protection policies, managing database access, and auditing user access to sensitive databases in compliance with regulations. You will follow structured processes for incident management, ensuring rapid detection, diagnosis, and resolution of service disruptions to maintain data integrity.

You will also be responsible for change and release management, planning and validating database system deployments to minimize downtime and prevent data loss. Health monitoring will involve defining and gathering metrics for databases, operating systems, and servers, using tools like SCOM to identify and resolve issues.

Additionally, you will handle database maintenance tasks such as scheduling backups, integrity checks, and index maintenance. Your role will require defining and implementing backup strategies, ensuring restorability, and managing data retention.

Performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization will be critical, as you will assess data access patterns and query plans to enhance database performance using tools like SolarWinds DPA. You will also ensure business continuity by configuring high availability and disaster recovery technologies, including Galera and MaxScale.

In a DevOps capacity, you will define and implement pipelines for deploying database changes using Puppet and Azure DevOps. Automation of repetitive tasks will be achieved through scripting in Bash, Puppet, Python, and PowerShell. Finally, you will be involved in data modeling, designing and documenting conceptual and physical database models while updating standard operating procedures as necessary.
