The Role

As Legal Counsel IP, you will play a senior role within our team in Delft, providing practical, business-oriented legal advice on IP matters. Your work will involve protecting and enabling the use of the IKEA Concept worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Advise stakeholders on various IP matters, including trademarks, copyright, design rights, patents, and trade secrets related to the IKEA Concept.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements such as licenses, development, and collaboration agreements.
• Support business projects where IP, digital development, data, technology, and brand protection are crucial.
• Identify, assess, and manage IP risks pragmatically, balancing legal protection with business needs.
• Collaborate with external counsel globally on IP protection, enforcement, and disputes.
• Create awareness and share knowledge on IP topics to empower colleagues in decision-making.

Requirements

• A university degree in law; a Dutch law degree is advantageous.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in IP and contracting, preferably in a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel in a multinational setting.
• Strong knowledge of IP law and practice across areas such as trademarks, copyright, designs, patents, and trade secrets.
• Solid experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts with significant IP components.
• Experience working with international stakeholders and external counsel across jurisdictions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus.
