The Role

As a Lead Technical Architect, you will support our global merchant base by enhancing their store performance through paid engagements. You will contribute to the Web Performance professional service practice by improving processes and tools, provide best practice advice to merchants, and create thought leadership content to showcase your expertise. Your responsibilities will also include managing stakeholder expectations and providing technical feedback to various internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Enhance store performance for global merchants as part of paid engagements.
• Improve processes and tools within the Web Performance service practice.
• Offer best practice advice and direction to merchants based on your expertise.
• Scale learnings from engagements to benefit all Shopify merchants.
• Create thought leadership content for https://performance.shopify.com/.
• Manage stakeholder expectations throughout engagements.
• Provide technical and product feedback to internal teams.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Sales.

Requirements

• Proven experience in improving front-end performance on large websites.
• Expertise in debugging complex INP issues.
• Advanced skills in performance debugging using DevTools, Synthetic, and RUM solutions.
• Strong communication skills with Enterprise merchants.
• Proficient in navigating and using GitHub.
• Ability to share knowledge through speaking engagements and writing.
• Enjoyment in investigating and solving complex performance challenges.

Nice to Have

• Experience with React/Remix.
• Familiarity with Liquid or Shopify storefronts.
• Contributions to open-source web performance tools or standards.
