Hi! I'm Josh, Chief Product Officer at WeTravel. I'm looking for a Lead Product Manager to take ownership of our checkout process and the monetization strategies associated with it. You will report to our incoming Head of Payment Products & Monetization.

About the Company

WeTravel supports multi-day travel businesses that collectively generate over $300B in annual sales worldwide. With 10,000 businesses utilizing WeTravel as their comprehensive operating system, we help manage sales processes, payment collections, and back-office operations. Our platform is central to their eCommerce needs.

WeTravel boasts a team of over 400 members from more than 88 countries, with our Amsterdam office housing the entire Product Organization and a significant portion of our Engineering team. We are financially secure and experiencing rapid growth, with year-over-year increases ranging from 60% to 100% depending on the metric.

The Role

This is a senior individual contributor role that offers significant impact and intellectual challenge.

Impact

Our clients rely on our checkout system to facilitate $3B in travel sales. For WeTravel, 80% of our revenue is generated during the checkout process. We monetize this through booking fees, FX markups, and payment method margins. As travelers pay organizers through WeTravel, there are opportunities to upsell additional products during checkout, such as travel insurance, airport transfers, and more.

You will manage the traveler experience, conversion rates, margin optimizations, and overall revenue generation, while a separate Payments PM will oversee payment processing aspects.

Intellectual Complexity

Our checkout must cater to a diverse clientele with varying needs. Some clients sell thousands of standard packages, while others offer exclusive high-end trips. The checkout experience must be adaptable, accommodating personal configurations, installment plans, and cross-domain tracking, all while supporting over 40 currencies and 30 payment methods.

Additionally, we have only begun to explore FX markup and traveler upsell opportunities. This requires a strategic mindset to balance value for clients, their customers, and WeTravel, alongside vendor management and user experience considerations.

Goals for the First Year

• Revamp the checkout into a cohesive and flexible system that maximizes sales for clients across all platforms.
• Establish systematic tracking and optimization for conversion and margins, enabling clients to assess performance across their demand channels.
• Ensure seamless integration for other teams to implement features within the checkout experience.
• Increase FX revenue by 30-50% through improved adoption and markup strategies.
• Boost insurance revenue by 30-50% by expanding options and improving user engagement.
• Launch and scale two additional traveler upsell products.

Requirements

• Extensive product management experience with a focus on delivering tangible outcomes.
• Minimum of 7 years in product management, with 10+ years preferred.
• Broad oversight of checkout processes in various stages of evolution.
• Systematic thinking to create a flexible checkout system.
• Strong analytical and UX insight capabilities.
• Proven expertise in conversion optimization across mobile and desktop platforms.
• Track record of enhancing monetization through successful upselling initiatives.

Nice to Have

• Experience with pricing strategies in live transactional environments.
• Background in building white-label eCommerce solutions.
• Familiarity with optimizing cross-domain conversion rates.
• Knowledge of travel insurance and related services.
• Experience with multi-currency and culturally diverse checkout processes.
