The Role

We are seeking a Lead Process Operations Engineer to join the Yanbu Refinery Engineering Division (YRED). This division provides technical leadership and engineering support to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient refinery operations. You will bridge the gap between engineering design and operational execution, applying engineering principles to optimize processes and troubleshoot inefficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction to the Operations Engineering team, aligning with performance targets and safety standards.
• Lead process optimization initiatives across multiple units, implementing engineering-driven improvements.
• Oversee the development and execution of engineering strategies for turnarounds, shutdowns, and capacity expansions.
• Act as the primary engineering authority during process upsets and equipment failures, ensuring timely resolution.
• Champion collaboration between operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance asset integrity and system reliability.
• Lead HAZOP studies and risk assessments to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Develop best practices and digital tools to enhance operational discipline and decision support.
• Provide technical oversight for equipment modifications and process changes, ensuring alignment with design intent.
• Mentor high-potential engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.
• Represent Operations Engineering in strategic reviews and corporate improvement programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in refining or petrochemical operations with a strong track record of leadership.
• Expertise in refinery process systems and process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS).
• Strong understanding of process safety management and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Excellent strategic thinking and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Aramco engineering standards and international codes.
• Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship aligned with Aramco’s sustainability goals.
