The Amazon Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Data Services organization is dedicated to creating diverse datasets for training and evaluating Amazon's AI models. We are seeking Language Engineers to join our science and engineering team, focusing on the development of intricate multimodal datasets through various methods, including synthetic data generation, model-supported data generation, and human-in-the-loop data collections.

The Role

In this role, you will be instrumental in fostering innovation and improving the standards for evaluating and training AI models. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to ensure our AI systems are top-tier.

Responsibilities

• Design complex data collections involving human participants based on scientific requirements: create instructions, establish quality targets, coordinate data collection efforts (planning, scheduling, reporting), and oversee final deliverables.
• Conduct complex data creation tasks utilizing synthetic and model-based data generation techniques, adhering to cutting-edge methodologies.
• Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights.
• Develop tools or prototypes for data analysis or creation using Python or other scripting languages.
• Employ modeling tools to bootstrap or test new AI functionalities.
• Work alongside scientists, software engineers, and other data creators to assess AI model performance.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in computational linguistics, language data processing, or AI data creation.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and dynamic work environment.

Nice to Have

• PhD in Computational Linguistics or a related field with a computational focus.
• Expertise in quickly adapting AI data collections to evolving requirements.
• Extensive experience with speech, text, and multimodal data across multiple languages.
• Experience in data creation for complex agentic workflows.
• Practical experience with Machine Learning.
• Familiarity with technical concepts such as APIs.
• Knowledge of version control and agile development.
• Willingness to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to reprioritization as needed.
• Creative thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
