In this role, you will work with plankton samples in the laboratory, analyzing and sorting them primarily through microscopy and image analysis. You will also prepare histological samples and accurately record and input data into templates.

You will collaborate with approximately four colleagues in a close-knit research team at Wageningen Marine Research located in IJmuiden. Together with this group of specialists, you will contribute to the successful execution of various projects.

Wageningen Marine Research (WMR) is one of the nine institutes that form Wageningen Research. WMR is a leading, independent research institute focused on strategic and applied marine ecological research, with locations in IJmuiden, Den Helder, and Yerseke. The projects are diverse, encompassing field research, realistic scale experiments, exploratory laboratory studies, data management, and modeling.

Jouw kwaliteiten

You can work well both independently and as part of a team. Your attention to detail ensures you handle samples and data effectively in our laboratory environment.

You also possess:

• A completed MBO-4 education; candidates with an academic background will be excluded from selection.
• An interest in working with the smallest organisms in the sea.
• Proven affinity for microscopic work.
• Proficiency in Dutch (minimum level B2).
• Laboratory experience and proficiency in English (level A2) are a plus.

A contract of 24 to 36 hours is also negotiable. Initially, we offer a one-year contract.
