The Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will work closely with the culinary team to maintain hygiene standards, manage food preparation tasks, and ensure all kitchen equipment and workstations are spotless. Your efficiency will directly impact our ability to deliver high-quality service to our guests.
Responsibilities
- Ensure food preparation areas are clean and hygienic at all times.
- Wash utensils and dishes, ensuring proper storage.
- Sort, store, and distribute ingredients.
- Wash, peel, chop, cut, and cook foodstuffs, assisting in menu preparation.
- Dispose of rubbish and clean food preparation equipment, floors, and tools.
- Assist with deliveries and shopping requirements.
- Monitor inventory and report damaged or faulty equipment.
- Package leftover meals upon request.
- Stay familiar with menu items, specials, and kitchen information.
- Meet regularly with managers and waiting staff to discuss menu changes and reservations.
- Strive for customer satisfaction and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Assist in training new team members and provide additional support as needed.
- Adhere to health department regulations and customer service guidelines.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a kitchen assistant, kitchen porter, or similar role in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Basic knowledge of food safety regulations and safe food handling practices.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
- Flexibility to work various hours, including weekends and holidays.
- EU passport holder is mandatory; flexibility to travel is essential.
- Based in Amsterdam; a valid driving license is desirable.
- Available to start immediately.
