Vacancy Summary
Join us in working with 1000 farmers in the Netherlands to support the transition to regenerative agriculture. As a junior researcher, you will focus on data collection and reporting tools to enhance learning and monitoring activities within the ReGeNL project.
Your job involves collaborating with 1000 farmers in the Netherlands while utilizing data collection tools. Within the ReGeNL project, we seek a junior researcher to assist in monitoring and learning activities. The agricultural sector faces increasing pressure to boost global production sustainably, balancing farmers' incomes, soil health, and environmental impact. Regenerative agriculture offers a promising path for a sustainable future in farming. ReGeNL aims to transform agriculture alongside soil health and nature restoration, establishing a viable revenue model for farmers. By 2030, we will engage 1000 farmers in transitioning to regenerative practices, with the goal of making regenerative agriculture the new standard by 2040.
In this role, you will support the monitoring and learning of the participating farmers committed to transitioning their farms. The Soil Biology group (SBL) at Wageningen University, along with partners, is responsible for monitoring changes in practices and their outcomes. Continuous feedback between farmers and researchers is crucial, necessitating the collection of monitoring data and providing insights and learning tools back to farmers. Your focus will be on developing data collection and reporting tools, leveraging your knowledge in data management and Dutch agriculture. You will collaborate with the Monitoring and Valuing team and the Data Management team, which oversees the data infrastructure for ReGeNL.
You will work here: The Soil Biology group considers soil life essential for sustainable ecosystems. We study the role of soil biota in ecosystem processes at various scales, from individual soil ped to global climate change impacts. Our state-of-the-art laboratories facilitate research and routine analyses for external clients. The Soil Biology Group, along with three other chair groups, forms the Wageningen Soil Cluster, renowned for its excellence in soil science.
