The Jewellery Team collaborates within the Marketplace Department to manage incoming stock. Team members share their expertise in hallmarking, material identification, and support one another in evaluating and cataloguing various jewellery pieces daily.

Every day, the team processes a wide array of jewellery, from costume pieces to fine silver, gold, and antique treasures. As a Jewellery Product Assessor, you will connect incoming stock with the marketplace by accurately identifying, sorting, and cataloguing each piece with great attention to detail, ensuring proper categorization and listing for rediscovery.

Jewellery is assessed and catalogued accurately, minimizing errors and queries. Daily processing targets are consistently met while maintaining high standards of inspection and description quality. Your practical knowledge of precious metals, hallmarks, and gemstones will grow through hands-on work and team collaboration. Inventory will move smoothly through the department without bottlenecks.

What You’ll Do

• Assessment & Inspection: Inspect items to verify precious metals, test and identify gemstones, and decipher hallmarks accurately. Authenticate incoming pieces by checking for restoration signs, damage, weight discrepancies, or synthetic components. Research un-hallmarked or unusual items using reference materials.
• Cataloguing & Listing: Draft precise product descriptions highlighting key features and conditions. Record accurate technical specifications into departmental systems, including dimensions, weights, stone types, and metal purities. Systematically categorize inventory for correct platform placement.
• Operational Excellence: Efficiently sort incoming stock across costume, silver, gold, and antique categories to maintain flow. Process items consistently to meet daily listing targets and prevent bottlenecks. Keep workspaces organized to protect valuable inventory.
• Teamwork & Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot ambiguous hallmarks and unidentified stones. Share findings and testing techniques to enhance collective product knowledge. Assist in onboarding new team members by demonstrating inspection processes.

What You’ll Bring

• A strong interest in vintage and antique items, particularly jewellery.

• Basic IT competency and eagerness to learn listing and record maintenance on online platforms.
• Hands-on experience with jewellery, vintage goods, or precious metals.
• Understanding of hallmarking systems, alloy purities, and gemstone characteristics.
• Sharp visual awareness to identify subtle maker's marks and signs of alteration.
• Ability to maintain detail accuracy while meeting daily processing targets.
• A collaborative mindset, open to asking questions and sharing insights.
• Knowledge of historical design movements like Victorian, Art Nouveau, or Art Deco jewellery.
• Familiarity with basic gemmological testing tools like loupes and magnet tests.
