Serverfarm Critical Facilities Services is dedicated to providing uninterrupted power, cooling, and security across our data center portfolio. The Junior Shift Engineer is responsible for covering shift patterns and assisting in the daily operations of critical facilities. They are essential to our commitment to safety, reliability, and operational excellence, acting as the eyes and ears of the site.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring safe operation and maintenance of all MEP plant and distribution infrastructure, adhering to industry best practices and manufacturer recommendations.
• Monitor power and environmental conditions within all critical areas of the facility.
• Execute assigned maintenance tasks in line with SF practices using the internal CMMS.
• Aid in planning and scheduling maintenance activities.
• Escort and support external contractors, ensuring compliance with SF work rules and processes.
• Respond to site events, execute appropriate EOP documentation to resolve or mitigate issues, and communicate with management throughout events. Assist the Senior Engineer in stabilizing events.
• Support and adhere to all SF Change Control policies and procedures.
• Conduct site rounds and report any issues to site management.
• Participate in construction and commissioning activities as directed by management.
• Comply with all Dutch safety laws and requirements.
• Follow SF corporate information, security, quality, and environmental standards.
• Ensure a safe and healthy working environment, including wearing uniform and PPE at all times.
• Complete other duties as assigned by management.
• Maintain awareness and compliance with contractual KPIs/SLA’s, ensuring shift logs and handover documents are current.
• Present a professional image of Serverfarm to clients at all times.
• Ensure availability of suitable spare parts for maintenance and reactive works, providing parts lists and estimated timelines for remedial actions.

Shared Accountabilities

• Participate in and support MOP/SOP/EOP documentation processes for the site.
• Contribute to the development of site policies and standards.
• Collaborate with site team members to achieve 100% uptime of critical infrastructure.

Parameters for Success

• Metrics: Response time to events, facilities uptime, organization, CFS.

Education

• A solid basic education is essential, with proficiency in written and spoken English and basic mathematical skills.
• Formally trained in electrical/mechanical maintenance.
• BMS knowledge is preferred.

Experience

• Essential experience in maintaining relevant mechanical and electrical equipment to clearly defined criteria.
• Driver's license type B is required.
• Electrical License - 250A, 630A.
• High voltage license is advantageous.
• Valid work permit is a plus.

Training

• Any IT or Data Centre qualifications are beneficial.
• Good knowledge of IT equipment and components, including server, switch, and blade technology.
• Understanding of the Data Centre environment and applicable working restrictions.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong understanding of fault diagnostic techniques, including the use of handheld test equipment.

Circumstances

• Must be willing to work a 12-hour shift pattern, including days and nights, to provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in working patterns as required.

Salary: €35,000 - €40,000 per year. The listed salary range is an estimate based on the competitive job market. Final compensation will be determined based on individual skills, experience, and location.
