Safe mooring of large container ships has become increasingly challenging. This internship focuses on analyzing the Dynamic Amplification Factor (DAF) and its impact on mooring line forces for large container vessels. You will dive into research on ship behavior under various conditions, including wind speeds and mooring setups. If you are passionate about maritime engineering, this is the opportunity for you.

The Role

As an intern, you will investigate the DAF, comparing maximum mooring line forces between static and dynamic analyses for large container ships (300m or longer, over 9,000 TEU). You'll analyze how DAF varies based on factors such as ship size, wind conditions, mooring setup, and the influence of container stacks and cranes on wind forces, utilizing insights from Windlass | MARIN.

You should possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to communicate your ideas effectively. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Civil, Marine, or Offshore Engineering
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Interested in the differences between Static and Dynamic Mooring Analysis for large container ships in wind

During your internship at Haskoning, you will gain valuable experience in a consultancy environment. You will be fully integrated into the team and invited to participate in all project-related and social activities. A monthly allowance of €750 (based on 40 hours) will be provided. You will benefit from:

• Over 20 years of experience in Dynamic Mooring Analyses (DMAs), learning about mooring analysis in port engineering.
• Training on engineering software developed by Marin (DIFFRAC | MARIN, aNySIM XMF | MARIN) used in our mooring analyses, with dedicated workflows including cloud computing, pre- and post-processing.
• Opportunities to learn from young professionals in our Delft office who bring their experience from working at an international engineering consultancy firm in port consultancy.
