As an intern, you will work on a graduation assignment focused on the automation of the Chain Liability (WKA) process within Accounts Payable, including the improvement of supplier documentation management. You will have a focus on compliance aspects as well, as this is also part of the scope within Accounts Payable. The objective of this assignment is to design an automated end-to-end process that improves efficiency, reduces manual work, and ensures compliance with legal and audit requirements.

About Us

From our headquarters in Gorinchem, we provide administrative assistance across various areas of expertise. The Accounts Payable department within Damen Global Support is responsible for the efficient and compliant processing of incoming supplier invoices across multiple entities within the Damen Shipyards Group. The team emphasizes process optimization, automation, and adherence to financial regulations and internal policies. Continuous improvement and digitalization are key priorities within the department.

The Role

As an intern, you will:

• Analyze the current WKA process within Accounts Payable.
• Identify bottlenecks, risks, and inefficiencies in both processing and documentation flow.
• Conduct interviews with the team, Procurement colleagues, and potential suppliers.
• Investigate automation opportunities within SAP and Process Director.
• Design automated triggers for requesting missing documentation.
• Develop a structured approach for compliance monitoring and audit-proof documentation.
• Deliver an end product that will enhance the WKA process and possibly implement initial steps.

Skills & Experience

To be considered, you should have several of the following:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program in Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in process optimization, automation, and finance operations.
• Basic understanding of financial processes and financial law is a plus.
• Affinity with systems such as SAP or workflow tools is a plus.
• Fluent in both English and Dutch.
• Full-time availability on-site in Gorinchem.
