For an international insurance company based in Amsterdam, we are seeking an Interim Reserving Actuary. In this role, you will be responsible for the precise valuation and timely reporting of technical provisions under LIE GAAP and IFRS 17.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the quarterly closing process.
- Contribute to performance analysis, assumption setting, and the continuous improvement of reserving methodologies, processes, and controls.
- Support the Appointed Actuary/Actuarial Function Holder in meeting responsibilities towards the Financial Market Authority (FMA), senior management, and the Board of Directors.
- Participate in the calculations of technical provisions (Local GAAP, IFRS-17, and Solvency II).
- Analyze variations in technical provisions and their effects on company results.
- Determine best estimate assumptions for reserving and evaluate their impact.
- Perform IFRS-17 calculations for group reporting.
- Collaborate closely with Claims departments to ensure accurate reserve reflection.
- Manage reinsurance responsibilities, including ceding calculations, quarterly Statement of Accounts, and reporting to reinsurers.
- Work closely with IT and Finance to adjust and maintain valuation tools and the data landscape.
The above tasks outline the primary scope of the role; however, additional duties may be assigned as business needs evolve. You will be accountable for the accurate and timely calculation and reporting of technical provisions, assumption setting, and reinsurance settlements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal guidelines. Deliverables include validated technical provisions, quarterly reserving reports, assumption documentation, reinsurance statements, and IFRS-17 group reporting outputs.
