De rol

As the Head of Data, you will oversee the company's data platform, ensuring data is ingested, processed, governed, and made securely available for analytics, AI, machine learning, and operational applications. You will lead the Data Platform Engineering team, responsible for both team development and platform operational excellence. While we currently utilize Databricks and Azure, we seek someone who can envision beyond our existing stack, considering architecture, engineering practices, open-source opportunities, and long-term capability building. You will report directly to the CFO.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Own the technical direction of the data platform, including infrastructure and budget management.
• Develop a roadmap that aligns business priorities with long-term platform investments, making architectural decisions that ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Lead the ingestion and integration of data from internal platforms, SaaS applications, ERP/CRM systems, APIs, and third-party sources, while building and operating reliable batch and streaming pipelines.
• Develop and maintain our Medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) and enhance the gold layer to meet day-to-day data and BI requirements.
• Implement platform-wide governance, including metadata management, cataloguing, lineage, and access controls, in collaboration with Security and Architecture to ensure GDPR and security compliance.
• Enable ML & AI workloads through scalable pipelines and high-quality datasets, while building self-service capabilities for analysts and power users.
• Lead and develop the Data Platform Engineering team, establishing engineering standards, coding practices, and delivery priorities.

Vereisten

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform roles, including 3+ years leading engineering teams, with a background in operating enterprise-scale data platforms in production.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Spark internals and experience in building reliable, production-grade ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Experience in designing architectures that integrate batch and streaming processing, including checkpointing and state management.
• Familiarity with CDC technologies such as Debezium.
• Proficient in Databricks or similar lakehouse platforms, and with data modeling frameworks like Kimball dimensional modeling.
• Experience implementing Medallion Architecture using transformation tools like dbt.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with data catalogs, data masking techniques, and data governance platforms.

Technische vaardigheden

• Databricks, Apache Spark (Spark SQL, PySpark), Apache Kafka, Apache Airflow.
• Table formats: Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg.
• Kubernetes for deploying and maintaining stateful services.
• Prometheus & Grafana.
