De Rol

We are seeking a Head of Credit Risk, a high-impact position that involves direct collaboration with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and teams across Product, Machine Learning & Data Science, Operations, and Engineering. You will be responsible for designing the foundational risk framework and influencing the future of SME lending in Europe.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Lead the development of a comprehensive credit risk framework for all credit products, including eligibility, underwriting, scoring models, limit setting, risk appetite, monitoring, and reporting.
• Collaborate with external vendors to enhance credit risk detection capabilities.
• Develop methodologies and work with Machine Learning Engineers to continuously improve Finom’s Credit Risk Engine, ensuring it is recognized as best in class.
• Partner with Heads of Product and Engineering to integrate risk considerations into product design and strategy from the outset.
• Architect the data strategy, incorporating decisioning tools, transactional data, and external data sources to guide credit scoring and risk model development.
• Build and manage the portfolio monitoring stack.
• Design and calibrate early warning indicators and credit monitoring systems.
• Act as a strong Second Line of Defence (2LoD), ensuring effective origination, monitoring, and collections processes.
• Maintain and enhance credit risk policies, risk appetite frameworks, and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure compliance with EMI / PS4 regulatory requirements and evolving European standards.

Vereisten

• 7-10+ years of experience in credit risk, with expertise in SME lending and credit cards, including associated credit and fraud risks.
• Strong background in automated underwriting and risk models within fintech or digital banking.
• A degree in STEM or quantitative fields such as physics, data science, applied mathematics, statistics, econometrics, or quantitative finance is highly desirable.
• In-depth understanding of risk governance, policies, and process management.
• AI-native mindset with proficiency in leveraging AI tools for enhanced productivity and decision-making.
• Product-led growth mindset focusing on unit-economics and risk-adjusted margins.
• Critical thinker with a strong ownership mentality, eager to challenge conventional methods.
• Excellent collaboration skills, capable of aligning diverse stakeholders.
• Analytical, structured, and pragmatic, able to balance detailed analysis with big-picture thinking.
