FinAgra is redefining commercial agriculture in emerging markets by merging financing, agronomy, technology, and farm operations to transform underperforming farmland into productive farming businesses. We seek a Global Lead Agronomist to establish and oversee the technical agronomic standards that guide FinAgra's farming operations.

The Role

As the Lead Agronomist, you will set the agronomic standards, develop growing protocols, and implement best practices across all FinAgra farms. We are looking for an individual with robust technical agronomy expertise and a proven track record in evaluating, introducing, and integrating new agricultural technologies into practical farming systems, whether in a seed company, crop-input company, agribusiness, technology provider, or large farming organization.

You will be responsible for translating agronomic science, field experience, and innovative technologies into practical systems that can be consistently applied across multiple farms and regions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance FinAgra's crop-growing SOPs and production protocols.
• Lead processes for land selection, crop selection, and operational planning.
• Define best practices in crop planning, variety selection, nutrition, irrigation, crop protection, and harvesting.
• Assess new agricultural technologies, products, and practices to identify improvements in yield, quality, cost, or operational reliability.
• Design and oversee field trials and validation programs prior to large-scale implementation of new approaches.
• Collaborate with seed, fertilizer, crop-protection, irrigation, and agtech companies to integrate optimal solutions.
• Transform agronomic knowledge into clear, repeatable decision rules and workflows for FinAgra’s digital platform.
• Assist local agronomy teams with complex technical decisions and refine protocols based on field performance.
• Create a structured knowledge base of agronomic standards, lessons learned, and best practices across FinAgra markets.

Requirements

• Strong professional background in agronomy, crop science, plant science, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in commercial agriculture.
• Proven experience in introducing or integrating agricultural technologies, products, or new agronomic practices into farming operations.
• Background with a leading seed, crop-input, agribusiness, or agricultural technology company.
• Deep understanding of how agronomic research translates into scalable commercial farming practices.
• Experience in designing trials, interpreting field data, and making evidence-based agronomic decisions.
• Ability to identify and nurture local agronomy talents in targeted markets.
• Skills to guide, train, and manage agronomy teams.
• Capacity to simplify complex technical knowledge into standardized protocols.
• Comfort in working across various crops, countries, and farming environments.
• Strong collaboration skills to effectively work with agronomists, operations teams, product teams, and external technology partners.
