We are seeking a Global Agriculture Intern to join our EMENA (Europe, Middle East & North Africa) Agriculture team, based in the Netherlands (Amsterdam or Lewedorp). This role will support our Regenerative Agriculture & Decarbonization initiatives, contributing to our commitment to advancing regenerative agriculture across our value chain.

The Role

As an intern, you will support the decarbonization of McCain's European potato supply chain by analyzing agronomic data from potato growers, identifying opportunities to enhance regenerative farming practices, and assisting local Agriculture teams with technical insights and digital tools. A significant aspect of this role involves understanding potato cultivation and interpreting technical data related to crop management, including fertilization, crop protection, tillage, irrigation, and other field practices.

Responsibilities

• Collect, structure, and validate grower practice data, including fertilization (mineral and organic), crop protection products, tillage, irrigation, cover crops, and crop rotations.
• Ensure data quality by standardizing formats, cleaning datasets, checking consistency and completeness, and maintaining a data dictionary.
• Analyze technical farming practices and calculate key sustainability indicators, such as greenhouse gas emissions, nitrogen use efficiency, Environmental Impact Quotient (EIQ), and adoption of regenerative agriculture practices.
• Interpret agronomic data to identify opportunities for improving environmental performance while maintaining productive potato crops.
• Support the deployment of our grower-facing digital platform in France and Poland, including local configuration, terminology, and user onboarding.
• Maintain and enhance Power BI dashboards used to monitor carbon footprint and regenerative agriculture KPIs.
• Conduct user testing with growers and internal Agriculture teams, gather feedback, and support continuous improvements.
• Analyze the impact of agricultural practices like optimized nitrogen management, cover cropping, and reduced tillage on carbon emissions and farm performance.
• Develop practical communication materials, including technical guides, infographics, and grower success stories.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and best-practice exchange with Agriculture teams and potato growers across Europe.

Requirements

• Currently studying Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Plant Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field focused on agriculture.
• Familiarity with agronomic concepts such as fertilization, crop protection, and irrigation.
• Strong analytical skills and interest in working with agricultural datasets.
• Must be able to travel to the Amsterdam Schiphol Office at least 4 times a week.
