The Erasmus MC Genomics Core Facility (CoFa) offers a comprehensive range of genomics services to an international clientele in both research and diagnostic contexts. We are looking for a highly motivated Genomics Specialist to enhance our research and development efforts and provide scientific user support.

The Role

As a Genomics Specialist, you will serve as the scientific expert and advisor for genomics projects within the facility. Your responsibilities will include supporting researchers in designing and executing genomics studies, contributing to the implementation of new technologies and workflows, and ensuring the highest standards of scientific quality.

Responsibilities

• Advise researchers on experimental design and selection of genomics services.
• Evaluate, implement, and validate new genomics technologies and protocols.
• Optimize workflows, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain quality standards.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops for researchers.
• Collaborate closely with operational and scientific teams across the facility.

The Erasmus MC Genomics Core Facility provides innovative genomics technologies, including DNA and RNA isolation, array genotyping, bulk and single-cell sequencing, and proteomics. As one of Europe’s largest high-throughput genomics facilities, we apply advanced genomic technologies to various projects for our clients. We maintain strong connections with multiple research groups within and outside Erasmus MC and are part of significant scientific consortia, including Genome of Europe. Requirements

• PhD or equivalent experience in a life science discipline such as molecular biology, genomics, biotechnology, or a related field.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and array technologies; experience in an academic core facility is a plus.
• Strong interest in technology development and method optimization.
• Excellent communication and scientific advisory skills.
• Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage.

What We Offer

• A one-year contract with the possibility of extension to a permanent position.
• Gross monthly salary ranging from €4,987 to €7,684 (scale 11-12) based on a 36-hour work week, depending on education and experience.
• A 3.5% salary increase from May 2027, as per the collective labor agreement (CLA).
• Flexible working hours with full-time or part-time options (minimum 28 hours per week).
• Excellent fringe benefits, including a 13th month paid out in November and an individual travel expense package.
• Pension insurance with ABP, covering approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
